Colin Farrell plans to give his eldest son in “long -term care”. James is ill from Angelman’s syndrome.
For the first time, acting star Colin Farrell (48) came to the public last year that his first -born son James (21) was ill with the Angelman syndrome – a rare neurogenetic disorder that mainly affects the nervous system and leads to severe physical and mental disabilities. Now the star, which was recently revealed in the HBO series “The Penguin”, revealed that he plans to give James in “long -term care” – for a special reason.
Colin Farrell wishes the disabled son “a connected life”
“What if I had a heart attack tomorrow and, God, keep James’ mother Kim a car accident and would also be taken – and James would then be on his own?”, The Irish Mime in the “Candis Magazine” explains his considerations. In this hypothetical case it would be “James wires of the state and where is he going?” Said Farrell.
His parents, in addition to the Hollywood star, the US model Kim Bordenave, could not decide what happens to James. And from Farrell’s point of view, another fact speaks for the step.
Already in the past year he pointed out in view of his disabled son: “If your child 21 becomes 21, they are practically on their own. All protective measures that, such as special school lessons, are eliminated. It remains a young adult who should be actually integrated part of our modern society, but is left behind in most cases.”
Foundation launched
The new considerations of Farrells also aim in this direction. He explains: “We want him to find a place where he can lead a fulfilling and happy life and where he feels connected.” James needs “a more fulfilling life than we can offer him a feeling of community”. For his son, the star hover activities such as “go to the beach, the museum, to the cinema and so on” just “simply a connected life”.
In addition to James, Farrell is also the father of son Henry (15), whom he got with his former partner and “Ondine” colleague Alicja Bachleda-Curuś (41). In 2024 he also launched the Colin Farrell Foundation. The actor wants to support other people with this. The foundation is intended to help young adults with intellectual disabilities.
