Judge rejects displacement of a trial of US rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs

The trial against the US rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs accused of sex trade and other serious crimes should begin in May.

Judge Arun Subramanian rejected Combs lawyers on Friday to postpone the proceedings by two months. The argument of the defense that the time to prepare for the process would not be sufficient is not understandable, the judge said. He pointed out that Combs was now represented by four law firms.

The public prosecutor accuses the 55-year-old of sexually abusing several women and men and forced to participate in drug and sex parties with threats and violence. With the employees and resources of his business empire, he is also said to have created a criminal company that committed crime such as sex trade, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery and disability. Combs denies all allegations.

The first allegations against Combs had arisen after his ex-girlfriend, singer Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, had sued the musician in 2023 for years of ill-treatment and rape. Shortly afterwards, both agreed on a comparison. Since then, numerous other women and also men have complained against the rapper due to severe allegations of abuse and even rape.

The Combs, known among the artist names Puff Daddy, P. Diddy and Diddy, had become one of the most successful hip-hop musicians in the world in the 1990s. The triple Grammy winner is also successful as a music producer and businessman. His record company Bad Boy Records produced stars like Mary J. Blige or Notorious Big.
