The trial against Sean “Diddy” Combs begins as planned on May 5. A judge dismissed his application for a shift.
Sean “Diddy” Combs (55) must be responsible for sex trade, extortion and other serious allegations as planned from May 5, 2025. A judge rejected the music mogul’s request to postpone the start of the trial.
Combs’ lawyer team had recently tried to achieve a two -month delay in order to prepare for new evidence and indictment points. The judge Arun Subramanian rejected the application on Friday. The argument of the defense that the time to prepare for the process would not be sufficient is not understandable. The judge also pointed out that Combs is now represented by at least four lawyers. On May 5, the selection of the jury for the process begins.
Combs’ defense team is currently in change. In February, the defense lawyer Anthony Ricco withdrew from the case, and Brian Steel took his place in early April.
The judge also decided on Friday that the alleged victims in the process should say under pseudonyms. The exception is Combs’ ex-partner Cassie Ventura (38) as the main witness.
Sean Combs advocates “not guilty”
Combs has been in custody since mid -September 2024. The public prosecutor accuses the 55-year-old, among other things, sex trade, organized crime and other offenses. Against him there are also a number of civil lawsuits for sexual abuse. Combs denies all allegations and advocates “not guilty”.
At a hearing last Monday before the Federal Supreme Court in New York, Combs also rejected two new charges for which the investigators had expanded the indictment.
The first allegations against Combs had arisen after his ex-partner Cassie Ventura had charged the rapper in 2023 for years of ill-treatment and rape. Shortly later, they agreed on a comparison, but the whole thing continued to accuse an accusations. In the meantime, more than 100 suspected victims are said to have made serious allegations against Combs. The investigation against the music mogul was then expanded.
