A new flight restriction is now valid above the Sandringham Eastern Evales. The British civil aviation authority has the airspace above the country’s office of King Charles III. and Queen Camilla closed for low flights. The background is an incident of March 4: As the newspaper “The Sun” reports, drones over the site are said to have been sighted. According to the report, the devices could be traced back to a man who was sitting nearby in a car.
British Minister of Transport Heidi Alexander signed the corresponding arrangement on March 10, such as “Hello!” published. The regulation prohibits air traffic below 2000 feet (about 600 meters) in a defined area around Sandringham. Exceptions include flights from the royal family, the police and emergency services.
According to the published reasoning of the authorities, the measure was taken “for reasons of public security”. It also says: “In view of the security requirement for members of the royal family and other dignitaries who are in Sandringham House or visit it, and at the request of the security services (…) decided to restrict air traffic in the vicinity of this location (…).”

The final decision was made a few days after the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj. “I am very grateful for this meeting and for how his majesty of Ukraine helps and supports us,” said Selenskyj after the meeting on March 2. “He met our soldiers here who are trained in the United Kingdom and we are very grateful to the royal family for their support.”
Sandringham House has been subject to comprehensive security measures for years. The Royalty and Specialist Protection Unit of the Metropolitan Police, in cooperation with the local Norfolk Constabulary, is responsible for the protection of the property. The presence is particularly reinforced during stays of the royal family.
The area around the house is secured by physical barriers such as fences and access gates. Visitor areas are clearly separated and are monitored.
