Jan Hofer is considered a masterful news speaker. He seems to have less talent in other fields – to the delight of the youngsters.
The former news moderator Jan Hofer is not particularly good in board games. “I’m not a good player. I always lose,” said the 73-year-old from the German press agency.

An exception is backgammon that he plays with a certain enthusiasm and is now “quite good”. “But with everything else I was usually beaten early,” said Hofer. One is particularly happy about it. “My nine -year -old son regularly gambles at Monopoly.”
Hofer has been one of the most important news speakers in Germany for years. For decades he presented the ARD “Tagesschau”, later the “RTL Direkt” evening messages. He was born in Büderich (NRW), now he lives in Mallorca.
From April 29, Hofer will be seen again in a new role. He is part of the RTL program “The traitors-don’t trust anyone!”, In which celebrities play around a silver treasure at a castle.
