Sonja von Norway: Queen has been released from the clinic

The all -clear after the fright: Queen Sonja (87) was released after a night in the hospital on Tuesday. However, it is on sick leave until the end of the week.

Queen Sonja had been flown to the Rikshospaspafertel in Oslo on Easter Monday with breathing difficulties from Easter vacation, where she arrived around 11:00 p.m. She was able to leave the clinic again the next morning. “Studies show that the situation has normalized,” it says. The royal family and the subjects can therefore look forward to an all-clear after the Easter fright. But the palace also says: “The queen is on sick leave for the rest of the week.”

The wife of King Harald V. (88) and mother of heir to the throne Haakon (51) for two dates planned on Thursday. There was actually a visit to the Sofienberg Church in Oslo and the opening of an exhibition in the National Museum in the evening.

The 87-year-old is said to have been brought home by the clinic by a car of the royal family. Previously, she had received a visit from her daughter Princess Märtha Louise (53), who was photographed in front of the hospital. Meanwhile, Crown Prince Haakon is on a trip to Poland as planned.

Queen Sonja had been flown from Easter vacation to the hospital on Monday evening due to shortness of breath. The official ski hut of the royal family in Sikkilsdalen is around 300 kilometers north of Oslo. Princess Märtha Louise and her husband Durek Verrett (50) were said to have been there over the Easter days. However, the couple had already left when the 87-year-old got the symptoms.

Already in January the queen received a pacemaker after suddenly getting heart fibrillation during a skiing holiday. King Harald V has also been struggling with health problems for some time. He was also used by a pacemaker, and infections and knee pain were always created. At the beginning of 2024, he still emphasized that he did not want to go. After all, he swore a lifelong oath.
