The former child star Sophie Nyweide died at the age of only 24. Her family mourns the loss of moving words.
She played in films like Russell Crowes “Noah” (2014) or Jessica Albas “An Invisible Sign” (2010): Sophie Nyweide made a name for herself as a young actress. On Monday, April 14th, the former children’s star died at the age of only 24. The cause is not yet known. But according to her family’s last words, she seems to have suffered from trauma.
In an online published, the family wrote moving lines about the girl who seemed to achieve everything that had put itself in the head. “Creative, sporty and wise beyond her age, Sophie has achieved so much (literally – she danced while she was moving!). Sophie Nyweide was a friendly and trusting young woman.
“She dreamed of becoming an actress without ever knowing that her mother (Shelly Gibson, editor) was an actress, so she also did with a lightness that we all amazed. She seemed happiest to a film set if she could be someone else.”
Inner battles and trauma
She also outlined an escape from her own life in her art. “She wrote and drew insatiable and a large part of this art shows the depth she had, and she also represents the pain she suffered.” Many of their writings and works of art are maps of their fights and trauma. “Even with these roadmaps, diagnoses and their own revelations, those who are closest to her, as well as therapists, law enforcement officers and others who tried to help her, is inconsistent that her efforts could not save her from her fate,” says the obituary.
Her death left a hole. “Sadness, loss, heartache and even anger are present for those who loved them and now have to continue their infectious passion and enthusiasm without their laughter – without these amazing blue eyes that could look directly into the soul.” Her life ended too early. “May it not be for nothing. We all learn from their short life on earth and do it better. Yes, we all have to protect our children and make it better,” ends the communication of their family.
Nyweide got her first acting job in 2006. This was followed by roles in “Mammut” (2009) or “Schatten & Lügen” (2010). Instead of gifts or flowers, her family asked for donations to Rainin (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), an American organization against sexual violence.
