“I don’t think anyone was more surprised than we were,” the 52-year-old said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “You could never imagine something like that happening. It’s a beautiful thing.”
Lopez and Affleck dated 18 months 20 years ago. The two got engaged at the time but split in 2004. Both then lived with other partners.
Affleck married fellow actor Jennifer Garner and had three children with her. After ten years of marriage, the couple announced their separation in 2015. Lopez has been married three times, most recently to singer Marc Anthony, with whom she has twins.
After her most recent relationship with ex-baseball player Alex Rodriguez broke up last April, photos surfaced shortly thereafter showing Affleck and Lopez on outings together. In September, they appeared as a couple again at the Venice Film Festival.
