“Caution and with regard to Mr. Santana’s health, the decision was made to postpone the show,” said his manager Michael Vrionis in a statement. “He is fine and he is looking forward to returning to San Antonio and continuing his US tour.”

Not the first health setback

The concert in the Majestic Theater was supposed to take place on Tuesday evening. Fans are asked to keep their tickets for the not yet known catch -up date. Santana’s team assured that the show will be made up for “as soon as possible”.

This is not the first time that the multiple Grammy winner has to struggle with health problems. As early as 2022, the musician collapsed on stage during an appearance. At that time he had to cancel six concerts while recovering from a heat strike.

At the beginning of this year, the legendary guitarist had broken a finger as a result of a fall in his holiday home on the island of Kauai. This was announced by Michael Vrionis, President of Universal Tone Management, on the personal website of the musician at the beginning of January. The concerts planned in Las Vegas from Santanas from January 22nd have been postponed to a later date.

Tour continues

Despite the current setback, Santana’s US tour should continue as planned. The guitarist announced further shows for this week on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. According to his management, the current health incident should have no effect on these upcoming appearances.

Santana most recently performed in the AK-Chin Pavilion in Phoenix (April 18) and in the Isleta amphitheater in Albuquerque (April 19). The Mexican-American musician is one of the most influential guitarists in rock history and celebrated worldwide success with hits such as “Smooth” and “Maria Maria”.
