The Austrian post -war star Waltraut Haas is dead. The actress from Vienna, who was able to look back on a remarkable and over 70 -year -old career in front of the camera, died on April 23 at the age of 97.
From a statement from the family: “Despite all the infinite grief, we are grateful that she had such a long life, was able to give so many people joy and was also in relatively good physical condition until the end.” In addition to a talented actress, Haas was “a warm, humorous and deeply lovable person,” it continues. The funeral should take place in the closest family.
A successful career over seven decades
With her first film engagement in “Der Hofrat Geiger” from 1947, Haas played in the hearts of the post -war spuge as Mariandl Mühlhuber. Over the course of her long career, she participated in the Austrian-German film comedy “Im Weißen Rößl” alongside Peter Alexander (1926-2011), which was far from the only film of the two stars. Also with Heinz Rühmann (1902-1994) she turned early in her career, in 1955 for “when the father with the son”.
She held her final cinema roll in the comedy “The Little Pleasure” in 2017, in 2020 she was still in the television film “Happiness is a Vogerl” – her last role. Haas was honored with various awards for her work, including the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art.
