Kevin Kühnert explains: That’s why he turned his back on politics

It has been a little over half a year since the former SPD general secretary Kevin Kühnert (35) has surprisingly withdrawn from politics. So far, he has kept the exact motives for this step to himself, but now explains it in. Accordingly, a point was reached in his everyday life at which he saw the probability of physical attacks on himself as too high.

This “red line” came dangerously close even during vacation stays and have matured in it in a fatalistic way of thinking – “a feeling of absolutebusability”. After all, he became aware: “If I want to be left alone, I have to go where there are no people.”

Kühnert also reveals in conversation with “Die Zeit” that the man at his side with whom he has been with for several years belongs to the FDP. In his daily life, he is shown how important the acceptance of other opinions is. Because it takes “the constant awareness that the political opponent could also be right.”

One day, according to Kühnert, he may also take part in this important discourse as a politician. So he “did not get out because I would find all of this ridiculous or superfluous” and consequently does not categorically exclude a return.

Meanwhile, Kevin Kühnert will soon celebrate a comeback on television. On April 25th he is part of the round in the Radio-Bremen talk show “3nach9” and will explain how it has been gone in the past few months away from the political hustle and bustle.
