Film Festival: Cannes announces Pattinson and Stewart

The program of Cannes Film Festival has been supplemented by some prominent names. Hollywood star Kristen Stewart presents her directorial debut “The Chronology of Water” in southern France, as the press office announced. It is a film adaptation.

The author Lidia Yuknavitch tells of her life in the book (published in German under the title “written in water”). Among other things, it is about abuse, addiction and self -destruction. “The Chronology of Water” runs in the UN Certain Regard section.

The competition was added to the films “The My Love” by Lynne Ramsay (“We need to talk about Kevin”) and “Mother and Child” by Saeed Roustaee.

Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Lawrence play the leading roles in “The My Love”. This is also a film adaptation and not an easy fabric: the film tells of a mother who fights for her mental health.

Stewart and Pattinson, once a couple and once with the fantasy series “Twilight”, became famous, are now celebrated stars of the arthouse and blockbuster cinemas.

Ethan Coen shows new film with Margaret Qualley

Further films were announced outside the competition, including “Honey Don’t”. The film by Ethan Coen – part of the famous Coen brothers (“The Big Lebowski”, “O Brother, Where Art Thou?”, “No Country for Old Men”) – is occupied by Margaret Quege and Aubrey Plaza.

The other new announcements include Anna Catenave Cambet with Vicky Krieps (“Ingeborg Bachmann – Journey into the Desert”) in the cerative “Love Me Tender” category.

The Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 13th to 24th.
