Numerous funeral guests, including the Swedish Royals, said goodbye to Andreas von Sachsen-Coburg and Gotha in Coburg.
In Coburg, numerous funeral guests said goodbye to the late Andreas Prinz of Saxony-Coburg and Gotha, including the Swedish royal couple: Carl Gustaf and Silvia came to the church in St. Moriz. Princess Madeleine and her husband Christopher O’Neill and Carl Gustaf’s sister Christina also traveled.
The deceased was the cousin of King Carl Gustaf and the sponsor of Madeleine. That is why the Swedish royals have often been guests in the region.
In light drizzle, Carl Gustaf and Silvia, protected by dark umbrellas, entered the church. The funeral service celebrated the funeral service, the former chairman of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD), Heinrich Bedford-Strohm.
Then the funeral train moved to the Schlossplatz, where there was a short farewell ceremony – including with firecrackers and music. The guests also included representatives of numerous other noble houses, including Franz Herzog of Bavaria.
Andreas died on April 3 shortly after his 82nd birthday. The House of Saxony-Coburg and Gotha is related to numerous European royal houses-also with the British Royals: a well-known sprout of the Saxony-Coburg gender and Gotha was Prince Albert (1819-1861), the later prince grinder of Queen Victoria. Until 1917, the British royal family officially wore the family name Saxe-Coburg and Gotha before changing their name in view of the anti-German mood of the First World War in Windsor.
