Actress Annette Frier personally met Pope Francis last year. He was very funny – and I infected his surroundings with his humor, she recalls.
Annette Frier (51) experienced Pope Francis as humorous. In June 2024, the actress was invited to an audience at the Pontifex in the Vatican together with other humorists from all over the world such as Hollywood star Whoopi Goldberg and Late Night Talker Jimmy Fallon.
Francis gave a lecture on humor on this occasion. “And then he pulled a long nose towards his cardinals and stretched out their tongue,” said Frier of the German Press Agency.
“And accordingly he got back from a bank of cardinals that were sitting on his right.” That was incredibly funny and didn’t fit into the holy halls at all. “It was such a kindergarten moment of cheerfulness. I liked that.”
The Pope, who died on Easter Monday, will be buried in Rome this Saturday.
