Why the start -up show is a “movement”
In an interview, Judith Williams reveals what makes “the Löwen cave” so special for her and how she experiences the farewell of three colleagues.
The 17th season of “Die Dähle der Löwen” (since 2014) has been in the starting blocks – and with it the farewell to three investors. Nils Glagau (49), Tillman Schulz (35) and Tijen Onaran (40) turn their back on with the new episodes of the founders. In an interview, the entrepreneur reveals how her “The Löwen cave” colleague Judith Williams (53) perceive what is impossible and what the viewers should expect from season.
The new season of “The Lion’s Cave” is in the starting blocks. How does it feel to be there again?
Judith Williams: It is a show that connects hearts and visions – a platform for people who want to share their passion and dreams with the world. I feel a deep gratitude to be there again, because it means experiencing inspiration and giving inspiration myself. Every investment is not just a business model, but a story of courage, perseverance and innovation.
They are a real “original Löwin”. What makes “the lion’s cave” so special for you? What do you appreciate the most about the show?
Williams: “The Lion’s Den” is not just a business show – it is a movement. It shows that ideas, if they are persecuted with passion and hard work, can become reality. It is this transformation of vision to reality that touches me deeply. What moves me the most is the spirit that prevails in this room: entrepreneurs who present their future with shining eyes, who have great dreams and are willing to give everything.
How has the program changed over the years? Are there any developments that you find particularly exciting?
Williams: I see a strong shift towards sustainability, social entrepreneurship and digital business. The founders who today pitches not only bring innovative products, but also a clear vision for the world of tomorrow. I find it particularly fascinating that the focus is growing on Impact businesses – companies that not only want to be economically successful, but also take on social responsibility.
Nils Glagau, Tillman Schulz and Tijen Onaran say goodbye to this season. How do you perceive your exits?
Williams: All three have enriched the show with their unique mindset and their passion. They left traces, created inspiration and shaped many startups. Farewells also offer a possibility for new dynamics. The cave remains a place of energy, change and growth.
How was the mood behind the scenes in the face of these changes? Did the upcoming saying goodbye to the three have already changed something in the team structure?
Williams: We are a team based on trust, respect and mutual inspiration. Of course you can feel the emotions when valued colleagues go. There are moments of melancholy, but also an enormous appreciation for the time together. But as in real life applies: every change is also an opportunity. The show will develop further, record new perspectives and keep their spirit.
To what extent can you imagine a comeback of the three? Or would you even want that?
Williams: “Never Say Never.” The business world is dynamic, just like the lion round. I can very well imagine that paths will cross again at some point – be it on the show or on other platforms.
What can the audience expect from the last season with Nils Glagau, Tillman Schulz and Tijen Onaran?
Williams: A season full of passion, inspiring pitches and real Magic Moments. It becomes emotionally and exciting – exactly what makes “the lion’s cave”. Unfortunately, I can’t reveal any more.
How do you look at the future of “The Lion’s Den”? What do you want for the program and your development?
Williams: My wish is that the show remains a lighthouse for visionaries. That she encourages and inspires.
