Sofía of Spain: New pictures for the 18th birthday

There is something to celebrate again in the Spanish royal family: the youngest daughter of King Felipe VI. (57) and Queen Letizia (52) turn 18 on April 29. In advance there was already a special photo shoot for Princess Sofía.

In the garden of the Zarzuela Palace in Madrid, the little sister of the heir to the throne posed for the photographers one day before her birthday. In light blue blouse with scrapped sleeves, dark blue pants and with long open hair she beamed into the camera. She took a seat on a bench or posted herself in front of an old wall. The infanti presents herself to her 18th birthday mature and classic. She wears her hair blondmer than before, stated and with gentle waves. Your make-up is of course kept, as usual, Sofía does without jewelry.

Are not planned for any special celebrations because the 18-year-old is not a heir to the throne. Princess Leonor’s 18th birthday was ceremoniously celebrated in the House of Representatives, as was planned in the constitution.

From birth, Sofía of Spain is in the shadow of her big sister. She was born as the second daughter of the then crown prince couple Felipe and Letizia on April 29, 2007 in the Hospital Ruber Internacional Madrid. The princess took second place in the Spanish sequence of throne behind Leonor. The family shows itself together on many occasions, but in December 2024 there was an important premiere for Sofía: for the first time, she made an appointment for the Spanish crown and presented the price in a photo competition.

Since the summer of 2023 she has been visiting the UWC Atlantic College in Wales – as before. Soon, in May, she will graduate there. After that, in contrast to her sister, she will not complete any military training, but will probably start studying. So far it is not known what and where she will study.
