Pandemic: Prince Charles infected again with coronavirus

Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest son is unable to attend some appointments because he has contracted the corona virus and is in isolation. It’s the second time for him.

The British heir to the throne, Prince Charles, has been infected again with the corona virus. “The Prince of Wales tested positive for Covid-19 this morning and is now isolating,” the 73-year-old’s official Twitter account said on Thursday.

Prince Charles regrets not being able to attend his scheduled appointments in the city of Winchester and is trying to make up for the visit. The Queen’s eldest son met Queen Elizabeth II (95) “recently”, the PA news agency reported, citing a palace source. The monarch has not shown any symptoms so far. The Queen is also regularly tested for Corona.

Charles attended a reception at the British Museum in London with his wife Duchess Camilla (74) on Wednesday evening. The future queen is not infected, Clarence House said.

Prince Charles is boosted

Vaccinated contact persons of corona infected people have not had to go into self-isolation in England for a long time. There are therefore no immediate consequences for guests at the reception who have been vaccinated against Corona. In England, even those who are proven to be infected will soon no longer be required to isolate themselves. Charles is boosted.

The Queen’s eldest son was infected with the virus right at the beginning of the pandemic – long before vaccinations began – but only showed mild symptoms at the time. It seems similar this time, as the positive result was revealed through a routine test.

The cancellation of the visit to Winchester came just twelve minutes before the prince was due to arrive. More than 1,000 people had waited for Charles, who was to dedicate a statue to the Licoricia of Winchester, who was murdered in 1277 and is considered one of the most important Jewish women in medieval England, in the city about 100 kilometers south-west of London.
