Michael Bolton has a particularly aggressive form of cancer. He has now spoken about his fight with open words.
In January 2024, cuddly singer Michael Bolton shocked his global fan community. The 72-year-old announced that he was ill with a brain tumor. The singer now spoke in detail and openly about his current life situation for the first time. “It is not an option to be subject to the challenge. You will quickly be drawn into a duel. I think you can find out what is in you,” says the combative -sounding American about his cancer diagnosis and disease.
Michael Bolton is “a cheerleader for himself”
At Bolton, a brain tumor was surgically removed in December 2023. A second brain surgery was immediately necessary in January of the following year due to an infection. This was followed by radiation and chemotherapy. A scan is now created every two months to ensure that the tumor does not return. This is currently not the case, but the relapse rate for Bolton’s kind of cancer is around 90 percent according to the report of the US magazine.
The singer deliberately does not want to be informed about his forecast. Instead, he spends time with his three daughters and six grandchildren. Family quiz evenings would take place. “We are sitting in the same boat, and that’s it,” explains daughter Taryn in this regard.
Bolton meditates daily and plays golf as often as possible. He also continues to complete singing lessons and voice therapy. “I think we develop skills and problem management and learn how to make the best of a bad situation. You have to be a cheerleader for yourself,” he looks at his current situation.
