“Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega: She misses anonymity before fame

Just a few days ago, the Netflix streaming service announced the date for the return of the success series “Wednesday”. On August 6th, young star Jenna Ortega will be seen again as a Wednesday addams in her parade role. The 22-year-old now talked about how much the success of her Netflix series has changed her life.

When asked by her conversation partner, musician The Weeknd, whether the former Disney star missed the “anonymity” from the early years of his career, Ortega replied: “Oh, in any case.” Although she had already played top-class roles before the Netflix show, for example in the iconic horror film franchise “Scream”, “only got this series, the day of the week (‘Wednesday’) rolled everything”.

In retrospect, she particularly enjoyed the harsh years at the beginning of her career, which she describes as follows: “I slept in the car, drove through all of La and waited for weeks and had the bad feeling that I wouldn’t get the job that I really wanted. The adrenaline rush was so exciting.”

From 2014 to 2019, Ortega was seen as the younger version of leading actress Gina Rodriguez in the comedy series “Jane the Virgin”. Also in “You – you will love me” about the Stalker Joe Goldberg played by Penn Badgley, she gained first Netflix experiences.

In the future, Ortega can also imagine switching behind the camera. At the age of twelve, she wrote a script that she would continue to refine since then, Ortega reveals in an interview with The Weeknd.

At the moment she is busy “taking the first steps to realize it, which is really interesting”. In the conversation, however, Ortega does not reveal what history it is or in which genre your original idea falls. In the second “Wednesday” relay, on the other hand, she also acted as an executing producer – gained experience for the work behind the scenes of Hollywood.
