Actress Jenny Elvers-Elbertzhagen would like to take up her double name after the new name right came into force.
“Paul could now make Elvers-Elbertzhagen out of it,” said the 52-year-old of the “Bild” newspaper on Thursday. She wanted that for her birthday on May 11th. “There is also Mother’s Day. I insist on it,” said the actress.
Her 24-year-old son is currently called Elbertzhagen. This is due to her earlier marriage to Götz Elbertzhagen from 2003, as the actress of the newspaper said. “Paul was not allowed to have a double name at the time.”
Jenny Elvers kept the name of the ex-husband about her son
He was born as Elvers, after the marriage of his mother he accepted the name Elbertzhagen. After her divorce in 2014, she kept the name Elbertzhagen because she wanted to be called as her child.
A new name right has been in Germany since Thursday. So far, couples have had to choose a common marriage or family name, which is led by both. If they did not determine a family name, they continued to lead their previous names.
In the future, married people can lead a real double name as marriage names, which is composed of their both family names – with and without a hyphen. Children can also receive a double names composed of their parents’ surnames in the future. This also applies if the parents themselves do not lead a double name and regardless of whether they are married.
