A punk band makes it onto the “Walk of Fame”: The US rockers from Green Day celebrate their star badge in front of cheering fans. A Hollywood star jokes that you will pee on her.
The US punk band Green Day is now immortalized with a star badge in the heart of Hollywood. The rocker Billie Joe Armstrong (53), Tré Cool (52) and Mike Dirnt (52) unveiled the 2,810. Star badge on the famous “Walk of Fame” Bürgersteig. “Wow, that’s crazy,” said Armstrong during the ceremony with many speeches accompanied by the screaming fans. It feels like your own funeral, the rocker joked. He devoted the star to his mother, who, together with her son, the youngest of her six children, posed for photographers.
All three musicians thanked their fans for buying their records and visiting their concerts. Now you could also take photos of your star in Hollywood, grinning a grin.
Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds (48) came out as a guest speaker as a big green day fan. “You are the very best band in the world,” the actor praised the trio. Born in Canadians, he was immortalized on the “Walk of Fame” in 2016. He had the great honor to welcome them here, where they would be photographed “for all eternity”, trample on them and pee on them, Reynolds joked. He also thanked the band for using their song “Good Riddance” from 1997 in his film “Deadpool & Wolverine” (2024).
The album “Dookie” gave the California band the international breakthrough in 1994. With “American Idiot” the trio in 2004 won the Grammy for the best rock album. Last year they brought out their 14th studio album with “Saviors” – with the hit single “The American Dream is Killing Me”. Singer and guitarist Armstrong, bassist dirt and drummer cool also went on a world tour – the concerts were sold out.
