Mark Keller has been playing in the “Bergdoktor” for over 15 years. In the interview, he talks about the series and his new album “Songs of My Life”.
“I am very, very grateful that I have this small role in the mountain doctor,” emphasizes Mark Keller (59) in an interview with the news agency spot on news. The actor and singer, who celebrates his 60th birthday on May 5, has been playing the role of Dr. Alexander Kahnweiler in the popular ZDF series “Der Bergdoktor”.
“Sure, I don’t get rich, but she gives me a nice presence on TV.” He also loves the role and “it’s great fun playing,” enthuses the actor.
Deep friendship with Hans Sigl
Keller cannot explain exactly what makes the success of ZDF production that regularly comes to dream rates. But one thing is certain for him: “Hans Sigl also loves the role and we are close friends. He is the rock in the surf – without him the series would not be so successful.”
The 59-year-old particularly moves the persistent enthusiasm of the audience: “I realize that people out there, after 36 years, still love me, everyone knows me and is happy to see me.” This appreciation is invaluable for the actor, who started his career as a singer in the “Rudi Carrell Show”.
No exit in sight
Despite many other projects and plans, Keller never thought of an exit from the series: “Dr. Kahnweiler will certainly stay for a while, but I have many other things in mind. Maybe I will turn my own series – who knows?”
In addition to acting, Keller also celebrates success as a singer and emphasizes the connection between his artistic passions: “Without music, I would never have come to the film. For me, acting and singing simply belong together.”
On his new album he looks back on his career
On his new album “Songs of My Life”, which will be released on May 2, Keller looks back on his career and also recorded a special title with his sons Joshua and Aaron. “It was very moving for me to sing this song with my boys,” he says about the song “60 Sommer”.
“I always said that I still have ten summer. Maybe I will create all my plans – shows, films – in the next ten years because not so much time. The song is my review: ‘It goes so quickly, where is it so quickly, the wonderful time?’ This title touches me very much. ” Timeless classics can also be found on the new album. Keller interprets songs by Elvis Presley, Roberto Blanco and Julio Iglesias. “Every title tells a story – my story,” said the singer.
Shortly before his 60th birthday, Keller takes a satisfied balance: “If everything stays that way, I’m a happy person.” Health is particularly important. “It is a gift to be able to experience my 60th birthday. My mother was only 30 years old. However, my father is now 85 years old and is still very fit. I am very happy about that.”
By the way, the actor will spend his 60th birthday working: “I am on a promotion tour and even have a program on RTL on my birthday.” He does not yet know whether there will be a major celebration later. “For me it is a day like everyone else.”
