The first court appointment in London for Russell Brand only lasted 14 minutes. There are several allegations of rape in the room against him.
Short start of a long procedure? The British moderator and actor Russell Brand (49) has completed his first court date for several allegations of rape. After only 14 minutes, he left the London courthouse on Friday. In a current Instagram video, Brand admits that they were “addicted to drugs and sex”.
Leave the courtroom without “visible emotions”
According to reports, Brand’s 14-minute appearance in London reports only to answer a number of procedural issues that judge Paul Goldspring asked him. Brand is said to have confirmed his name, date of birth and his address in Great Britain before Goldspring exposed it on the deposit. Furthermore, Brand is said to have thanked the judge and left the courtroom without “visible emotions”.
Allegation: rape and coercion in four cases
According to the “TMZ”, action on April 4 was raised for rape and sexual assault in a total of four cases. The incidents go back to 1999. At that time, the senior prosecutor Suki Dhadda said that a woman accused her of raping her in a hotel room in 1999. Another claimed according to the “New York Times” that he raped her in a toilet cabin at a party. Two other women accuse him of being harassed and touched without their consent.
“I was addicted to drugs and sex”
In a April 4th, Brand thanks his fans for the ongoing support. Then he speculates that “the law is now used as a weapon against people, institutions and entire nations”. Afterwards he admits that he was “addicted to drugs, sex addicts and idioms” when he was still “young and single”. “But what I never was: a rapist.” Brand refers to the time before he lived with his wife and children and found the “Light of Lord”.
Next hearing on May 30th
“I hope that you can see all of this in my eyes,” says the moderator, who, among other things, runs the “Stay Free” podcast. What’s next? According to “TMZ”, Stuart Nolan, chairman of the British Law Society’s Criminal Law Committee, suspects that a process may only begin in one year. The next hearing in the procedure is already scheduled for May 30th. It is unclear whether fire then has to appear again in court.
