In an interview with the BBC, Prince Harry (40) expressed his wish for reconciliation with the royal family. He felt “abandoned” and described the judgment as “good, old -fashioned billing with the establishment”. He accuses the royal family to have influenced the decision to reduce its security and that the decision of 2020 to change its security status is “every single day”.

The prince was particularly concerned about the security of his wife Meghan (43) and the children together. “I can’t imagine a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to Great Britain under these circumstances,” he emphasized. The changes in his security status of 2020 not only affected him, but also his family.

In the conversation, Harry also suspected that in 2020 it was hoped to move him and his family through the increased risk of returning to Great Britain: “Everyone knew that they had a risk in 2020, and they hoped that the knowledge of this risk would force me to return.”

On the relationship with his father King Charles III. (76) Harry said that he did not speak to him “because of this security story”. At the same time, the prince showed that time for reconciliation urges: “I don’t know how much time my father remains.” He apparently refers to Charles’s cancer diagnosis. When asked whether he asked the king to mediate in the security dispute, Harry replied: “I never asked him to intervene – I asked him to avoid and let the experts do their work.”

Furthermore, he looks back on the years full of tensions in his family: “There have been so many disagreements and differences between me and some of my family members that the current situation, which has been going on for five years, is the only sticking point with regard to human life and the security that is still left,” he continues. “Of course, some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book, of course they will never forgive me for many things. […] It would be nice if there would be reconciliation now. If you don’t want that, it’s your thing. “

Despite all the differences, Harry emphasized his persistent connection with Great Britain: “I love my country, I have always done that, despite everything that some people did in this country. And I find it really sad that I can’t show my children my home.”

The British Court of Appeal in London dismissed Harry’s lawsuit against the downgrading of his security measures as an active member of the royal family on Friday. He had tried to contest a decision that reduced his security level after he and his wife Duchess Meghan resigned in January 2020 and moved to the United States. Due to the judicial decision, his security status will now remain outside the automatic, high level of protection that applies to rank higher royal and is evaluated on a case -by -case basis.
