Lady Gaga gives free mega show on the Copacabana

The US singer is emotionally an estimated 2.1 million viewers on the famous beach in Rio. The concert is considered the greatest of its career. The city brings it a lot more tourists than expected.
Lady Gaga was enthusiastic about an audience of millions with a free concert in Rio de Janeiro. The US singer performed 2.1 million people on Saturday evening (local time) on the legendary Copacabana beach, as the city administration announced.
“It is a great honor for me to be here tonight. My heart is full. I feel happy, proud and deeply grateful,” said Lady Gaga (39) on stage of a kind of balcony that was decorated with a Brazilian flag. “Thank you, Brazil. I love you forever!”. The concert in Rio was announced as the greatest of her career.
Eight years ago, Lady Gaga had to cancel an appearance in Rio
The two -hour concert belonged to the “Todo Mundo No Rio” series (all world in Rio), with which the city administration brings international stars into the coastal metropolis. Lady Gaga (“Abracadabra”) had canceled a planned appearance at the Rock Musikfestival in Rio in 2017 for health reasons. The Brazilians had been waiting for her for more than ten years since her last appearance in the South American country, she said. She will give everything at the show.

Already on the eve of the concert, the first fans of Lady Gaga came to Copacabana to secure a good place. Around 4,800 police officers were on duty. According to the city administration, the show attracted around 500,000 tourists to Rio, more than twice as many as expected. Rios authorities calculated with income of 600 million real (94 million euros) for the metropolis.
Last year, Superstar Madonna appeared in front of 1.6 million people on the Copacabana beach. It was the end of her world tour “The Celebration Tour”, with which the pop icon celebrated 40 years of career. On the day of Lady Gaga’s appearance, the “Queen of Pop” wanted to commemorate its own concert in Rio. She posted a video section of the concert and wrote: “Kisses to Brazil!”.
