Rolex, Seiko and even Richard Mille: These watches wear the stars in films

Watches and films have a long common history. Bidding battles have already flared up the places on the wrists of the stars. This is how watch legends are created!
What would James Bond be without his watches? No matter whether Rolex, Omega or even Seiko: the timepiece of the agent has been playing an important role for decades. This is of great importance not only for the corresponding brands, but also for the films. Because watches speak their own language. With certain models, subtle (or even obvious) messages can be sent.
When looking at Jonah Hill’s wrist in “The Wolf of Wall Street”, it immediately becomes clear what you are with him: A golden Rolex is somehow simply part of the outfit of a rich stock dealer.
Sometimes watches also take up the theme of a film. So Matt Damon in “Le Mans 66 – Against every chance” could actually wear nothing other than a chronograph for time measurement at car racing. The choice of props fell on one day Heuer Carrera 7753 SN.
Famous films help some clocks to be aware of the world
For collectors, the film clocks are curse and blessing at the same time. On the one hand, the mostly visible performances arouse desires and make the models desired – on the other hand, the clocks get into the spotlight and the price increases.
This effect is sometimes within the framework. For example, if you want to own the Seiko of Captain Benjamin L. Willard (Martin Sheen) from “Apocalypse Now”, around 2000 euros will still get it comparatively cheap.
It looks very different when you look at the clocks of icons like Paul Newman or Steve McQueen – here you can go to the seven -digit range for originals. For example, this could be the case again at a day Heuer Monaco in December if a watch that McQueen actually worn in the film “Le Mans” will be for sale for the first time after more than 50 years (you will find out more here).
History has long been written in other legendary models. The Rolex Daytona by Paul Newman, which was sold some time ago for $ 17.7 million, is still the most expensive wristwatch in the world. Without actors and film, the model would certainly be quite expensive, but probably in terms of price, far from this dizzying record.
You can find a selection of watches that actors have in well -known films in the gallery.
