Sex trading and threats: Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs are levied with serious accusations. The ex -superstar has been in custody since September – now the trial against him starts.
The rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, which was once celebrated as a superstar, has to answer in court in New York for allegations of sex criminal offenses. It is expected that the 55-year-old will personally appear in front of judge Arun Subramanian at the start of the excited process.
Combs has been in custody since mid -September. He is accused of the public prosecutor’s office, organized crime and other offenses. If he was convicted, he threatens a lifelong prison sentence.
So far, Combs has rejected all the allegations and pleaded for not guilty. His lawyers argued in advance that Combs had lived a “swinger lifestyle” and might not have been fully accountable, among other things, through drugs.
Jury selection should be difficult
The process starts with the selection of the jury, which can take several days. In this case, the public prosecutor and defense even saw the search as difficult in view of the prominent defendant that they already distributed questionnaires to potential jury candidates in advance.
The process itself could then take several weeks or even months. The process awakens memories of similar processes about sex crimes against ex -superstars in recent years – including R. Kelly, Bill Cosby or Harvey Weinstein.
Combs was successful as a musician and entrepreneur
Combs, born in New York in 1969, who used the pseudonym “Puff Daddy” and “(P.) Diddy” in the course of his career, was one of the most successful rappers in the world with hits such as “I’ll Be Missing You” and “Bad Boy for Life”. The musician, who was married three times and has seven children, also founded his own label and was successful with a fashion brand.
In addition to the indictment of the New York public prosecutor, there are also numerous civil lawsuits against the rapper. Among other things, a law firm in Houston’s Texan’s Huston is represented by around 120 people with allegations against Combs.
While numerous celebrities have now distanced themselves from the musician, his mother and children continue to hold to him and have repeatedly shown themselves among the spectators when listening to court.
