Apple and A24 today presented the first trailer of Highest 2 Lowestyour police thriller inspired by a movie of Akira Kurosawa that brings together To Spike Lee and Denzel Washington for the first time from Inside man in 2006.
The film is scheduled to be released in selected cines on August 22 before reaching the streaming platform Apple TV+ September 5,
What is Highest 2 Lowest
The film is a modern reinterpretation of the classic of Akira Kurosawa 1963, High and Lowbased on the novel King’s Ransom of Ed McBain. While the original thriller follows an executive of a footwear company that becomes a victim of extortion when the son of his driver is kidnapped by mistake and retained to ask for a rescue, the new film, set in contemporary New York, presents a music tycoon played by Washington who faces a similar plot.
“There is more in life than just making money,” says Washington in the trailer. “There is integrity; you have to recognize your values. You have to recognize what you really think. Do you think in yourself? Do you think you will succeed?”
The character affirms that «good times will bring difficulties. The successes will bring difficulties. The monies will bring difficulties. And chaos will continue ».

Also starring A $ AP Rockyin addition to Jeffrey Wright, Ilfanesh Hadade, Dean Winters, John Douglas Thompson and Ice SpiceHighest 2 Lowest will premiere out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival of 2025, while Lee’s classic, Do The Right Thingcelebrates its 36th anniversary.
Developed and produced by A24, Escape Artists and Mandalay Pictures, the film is written by Alan Fox and Lee. Todd Black produced for escape artists, along with Jason Michael Berman for Mandalay Pictures. The executive producers included Lee for 40 Acres and A Mule Filmworks, and Peter Guber de Mandalay, as well as Matthew Lindner, Chris Brigham and Katia Washington by Juniper Productions. Jordan Mold of Mandalay was co -producer.
