Netflix confirmed the release date of the new Noah Baumbach movie, starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler

Netflix announced this morning that Jay Kellythe new movie of Noah Baumbach starring George Clooney and Adam Sandlerwill premiere in cinemas on November 14 and debut in streaming on December 5.

The streaming platform also revealed a first view of Clooney as the main character.

When announcing Jay Kelly, Netflix referred to the project as a “heartbreaking comedy”, although little more is known about him. According to the synopsis, “everyone knows Jay Kelly … but Jay Kelly doesn’t know himself.”

Baumbach wrote the script of the film – his fourth collaboration with Netflix – with Emily Mortimer, one of the many others that are part of the cast. He also produced the film with David Heyman and Amy Pascal, who recently signed an agreement to produce the next Bond movie on Amazon MGM.

The cast also includes Billy Crudup, Laura Dern, Grace Edwards, Stacy Keach, Riley Keough, Patrick Wilson, Nicôle Lecky, Thaddea Graham, Jim Broadbent, Eve Hewson, Alba Rohrwacher, Lenny Henry, Josh Hamilton and Greta Gerwig.

Noah Baumbach and its relationship with Netflix

Baumbach has a long career with Netflix, having initially collaborated with the streaming platform at the launch of its dramatic comedy on a dysfunctional family, The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected)of 2017, starring Sandler, Ben Stiller, Dustin Hoffman and others. After his acclaimed success in Cannes, Baumbach again collaborated with the platform in 2019 with Marriage Storystarring Scarlett Johansson and Adam Drivera moving exploration of the divorce that obtained six Oscar nominations and assured DERN a statuette for Best Actress of Delivery.

After the success of Marriage Story, Baumbach signed an exclusive contract of several years to write and direct films for the platform in 2021. He released his third Netflix film, an adaptation of the postmodern novel of Don Delillo, White noisestarring Driver and Gerwig, the following year.
