Jana Ina Zarrella and husband Giovanni: A well -coordinated team for 20 years

20 years of marriage, two teenagers, two full schedule – and yet Jana Ina (48) and Giovanni Zarrella (47) have never lost their eyes for each other. “We are our biggest fans. There is no competition, just support,” enthuses Jana Ina at a video shoot for the energy provider Eon in the testing lab in Essen.

Despite all the harmony, everyday life is anything but relaxed. Shows, programs, school – their calendars are filled. How do you manage to keep an overview? “We have a common family calendar – everything is entered, including the dates of the children. And we deliberately block certain days for ourselves,” said the moderator. The family always has a priority: “We want to be there with special moments of our children. Sometimes we sleep little, but we’ll get sleep at some point.”

The couple celebrates their 20th wedding anniversary in August – but there are no concrete plans for this. No wonder, because with the Zarrellas a lot is more spontaneous, as Jana Ina laughs: “At the moment we live from day to day. But we can do it.” Even if her life runs a lot in public, Jana Ina and Giovanni now know exactly where the boundaries between private and professional. “I show a lot from our everyday life on Instagram, make jokes about life with teenagers. But the children are taboo – and that is also respected.”

The fact that they still remain amicable often show themselves in the supermarket or at the baker: “People talk to us as if we were friends or neighbors,” said Jana Ina. “My husband talks to every baker anyway, sings something, chat … As long as people are nice, we are too – then everything works.”

Teamwork does not end in the Zarrellas in child rearing or schedule. When it comes to saving energy, you are also a well-rehearsed duo: “He pays attention to the smart tariffs, so that I can load my car flexibly, for example, if it is cheapest, I am the one who makes sure to put out the light or put it out,” says Jana Ina Zarrella at the video shoot for the energy transition, for which she was in front of the camera with EON Germany CEO Filip. The children also join in: “They often say: ‘Hey, it’s light, make the light out’.”

For the Brazilian native, sustainability is of course part of everyday family life. The switch from hybrid to a fully electric car was the first step – the planned solar system of the next. “We saw that at the neighbor and said: ‘Looks good!’,” She reports. “I got some information about the walk. If I can charge my car at home through the solar system, that’s great.”

The fact that she now even knows why her car loads instead of immediately at night makes her almost proud: “I thought at first, my wall box is broken. But now I know: I have a flexible tariff. The car loads at night when the electricity demand is lower – better for the environment and my wallet.” Husband Giovanni is also happy. “My husband is a Swabian boy – he is very economical,” laughs the 48 -year -old.

“For example, we always make sure that the devices are not permanently on. A charger for the smartphone does not have to remain inserted all day. You can just connect it if you need it.” Nowadays there are so many ways to save electricity. “Little things that have a big impact at the end of the year. You save electricity and help the environment. That is what it is about: everyone should contribute their part.”
