Patrice Aminati: Cancer is no longer curable

The wife of television presenter Daniel Aminati has been fighting the disease for two years. She doesn’t want to give up her dreams.

Patrice Aminati (30) said in detail about her cancer in an interview. She is no longer curable in palliative treatment, “Cancer stage 4,” said the wife of TV presenter Daniel Aminati of “Zeit”. Nevertheless, she does not want to resign. Fortunately, a lot is happening in cancer research, “and I hope that a medication will come onto the market, that the many tablets will replace and give me more time. And maybe a child,” said Aminati.

The conversation led her together with her husband. The couple had made public in April 2023 that Black skin cancer had been found at Patrice Aminati, shortly after the birth of her daughter. In the meantime, after treatments, it was free of metastases. A few weeks ago she explained that a new metastasis had been discovered with her. The family lives near Dresden.

“If I have no dreams: why should I get up in the morning?”

At the moment they swallow 21 tablets every day, said Aminati. “As few as necessary, as few as possible.” Because of the medication, she cannot get pregnant at the moment. However, she realizes that her body “has so far got away relatively safely.” And even if you don’t get a second child: “I don’t want to resign now, at 30. At least I want to have hoped. If I have no dreams: why should I get up in the morning?”

It is right to have gone to the public with her illness. “Since then I have been able to exchange ideas, learn from others how to deal with the disease. Or people write to me that they have finally gone to cancer,” said Aminati. “It gives me strength to realize that I might have helped someone.”

She got used to “a new kind of life”. “The feeling of freedom and the carefree was taken away. You are now asking yourself fundamental questions. “For example, I wonder what priorities I want to set in my life. How I live. Whether I am someone with whom I would like to spend time.”

“Dear, beautiful body, you have worn me here.”

The attitude to your body has also changed. “I recently turned 30, I didn’t like my body most of my life,” said Aminati. She constantly rummaged her uncomfortable. “I found myself too small, the upper arms too thick, the skin too impure. We are always so hard to ourselves.”

The moment she looked the worst – “within a few days I gained twelve kilos due to water retention, hoses were in my body” – she thought: “You prefer, beautiful body, you have carried me to this far. How much you have to endure.” When the body was over, it was most grateful for him.
