King Frederik and his wife Queen Mary went on board the Dannebrog. The Danish Royals will soon take a trip.

King Frederik X. (56) and Queen Mary (53) continue a tradition of the Danish royal family in 2025: They take a summer cruise through Denmark’s waters on the historic yacht Dannebrog. The starting signal for the season was given this Wednesday. “This year’s sailing season with the royal yacht Dannebrog started with a sunny embarkation by North Toldbod in Copenhagen,” says an Instagram post.

Summer elegance

The event was celebrated with 27 cannon shots and then the Dannebrog sailed to Helsingör “where the royal couple was received with a salute by Kronborg Castle”. Pictures of the start of the season show the couple radiant and winking the crowd, but also with devout moments on board. Queen Mary chose an elegant summer look for the special day. It consisted of a floral midi dress in blue and white, to which the 53-year-old combined a dark blue hat and a matching wrap blazer. Her husband appeared in uniform.

The summer trip on the Dannebrog is a tradition of the royal family on Christian IX. (1818-1906) in the late 19th century. The royal couple went on board the ship on May 7, opening the 2025 season.

After this event, Frederik and Mary should be from June 11th to 13th, 2025. They should start on August 25th. It should last until August 28, as the palace announced. The cruise begins in the municipality of Frederikshavn on the island of Jutland before going to the Thisted municipality on August 26th and on August 27th to the island of Læsø. The tour should then end on the island of Samsø.
