Donald Trump has appointed reality star Siggy Flicker to the supervisory board of the US Holocaust Museum. The decision ensures criticism.

US President Donald Trump (78) caused a stir with an unusual personnel decision: the former reality TV actress Siggy Flicker (57) was appointed to the supervisory board of the US Holocaust Museum in Washington. The appointment is part of a comprehensive filling of the council after Trump had quickly released the members appointed by his predecessor Joe Biden (82).

The Israeli-American marriage broker, podcaster, television personality and author Sigalit “Siggy” Flicker, who became known through her appearances on the TV show “The Real Housewives of New Jersey”, belongs to a total of five new members on Monday for the US Holocaust Memorial Council. “You are all strong supporters of Israel and will make sure that we will never forget” in his appointment in the “Truth Social” platform.

Controversial connection to the Capitolsturm

The appointment not only ensures controversy because of Flicker’s reality TV background. Her stepson Tyler Campanella was arrested in April 2024 in connection with the Capitol Sturm of January 6, 2021 and charged for five offenses. As the US day newspaper reports, even on an Instagram contribution of Flickers, which showed a photo of Campanella in the Capitol, with the comment: “I love patriots so much. Take care of you, Tyler. We love you.” The post also contained the hashtag #stopthesteal (stops stealing).

The indictment against Campanella was dropped after Trump had pronounced pardon for people on his first day of the office who had been charged or convicted in connection with the Capitolstorm.

Daughter of a Holocaust survivor

Flicker, who was born in Jerusalem during the six-day war in 1967 and grew up in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, is the daughter of the Holocaust surviving Mordecai Paldiel. Her father was a director at the Holocaust Memorial Center in Jerusalem.

In March she posted a video on Instagram where she described her father warned her about anti -Semitism: “Anti -Semitism is like cancer. He can slumber for years, and sometimes when he comes back and his ugly face shows, you have to be ready to look him in the eye and defeat him.”

Criticism of Trump’s decision

Trump’s unprecedented step to relieve the council members appointed by bids before the end of their term of office triggered concern with some supporters of the museum. The anti-defamation League, a non-profit organization that fights anti-Semitism and hatred, warned last week: “The Holocaust Museum is not only a monument to the past, but also a warning for the present,” said the organization in an explanation. “We have to make sure that it remains non -partisan and that it is obliged to ensure that ‘never’ remains true again.”

The democratic MP Jamie Raskin from Maryland described Trump’s decision to the “Washington Post” as “a deeply split measure against a really important institution”.

Faithful Trump supporter

Flicker has long been a glowing supporter of the former and now reigning president. As a member of his Mar-A-Lago club in Florida, she explained to the daily newspaper last year that she visits the club three to four times a week to be in a place that feels like “Das America from before” before the country was “overwhelmed” by “jihadists” and criminals.

: “Thank you for the privilege and the honor of representing and never forgetting.” Her profile picture shows her with an Israeli flag next to the president.

The US Holocaust Memorial Council consists of a total of 68 members, 55 of whom are appointed by the President. The members usually serve for five years of office.
