Oliver Wnuk draws surprising record of burglary
Actor Oliver Wnuk was robbed and lost computers, iPad and a larger sum of cash. But the slump also brought him an amazing knowledge.
Actor Oliver Wnuk, known as Commissioner in the crime series “Nord Nord Murder”, was the victim of a burglary in his Berlin apartment last year. The actor has now surprisingly talked about the experience and its effects on his life. “Last year, shortly before I moved away from Berlin, I broke in. A lot was stolen, and that also had something liberating,” said the native of Constance in an interview with the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”.
“For me it was the computer and the iPad and really cash. It was already considerable,” said Wnuk about financial loss. The actor had a larger sum of cash at the time because a friend had advised him: “Wait, soon the blackout will come; and if the ATMs no longer work, you need cash.”

The experience of being stolen has fundamentally changed Wnuk’s relationship with material values. “I put it out theatrically: at that moment I realized that nothing should be heard and you only borrowed,” he reflected.
However, the emotional process went through different phases after the break -in: “If you are stolen, you feel helpless at first. Above all, if it is a really big theft. Then you sign up: So they also stole that too and that is a shock and almost feels like grief,” said Wnuk his initial feelings. “At first there is a strong feeling of fainting. But then the ease comes: let go! You don’t need it all.”
Moving from Berlin to Bavaria
In his subsequent move to Lake Starnberg, he consistently taken care of reducing his property. “I moved with very little. For several years I have been living alone for several years and I found it liberating to take as little possession as possible,” said the actor.
Experience led to a more minimalist attitude to life. “I also thought about it for a long time whether I buy a record player again – because I would have to start collecting plates again. I also found that liberating not to do it,” said Wnuk. The TV star even went so far as to take a precaution: “In the event that someone gets my address out, I am addressing a message to all burglars: I really have nothing to get-with the exception of 56 records, which I have already receded again.”
