“The heaviest load” is the story of a girl whose father, who was a prisoner by train to Auschwitz, throws her into the forest to save her life, and there she is raised by a marriage of woodcutters.

“Once upon a time, in a large forest, a poor liber and a poor lumberjack (…) there was once a rustic cargo train that went and went”. Thus, with fable tone, the novel of Jean-Claude Grumberg “The Plus Précieuse des Marcandis”and thus also begins its film adaptation, which we now see and that at the beginning plays reiterating words to ensure that it is a story for children. And it is true, it is a story for the child that each one carries within his soul, already hurt by the teachings of life. A sad, but beautiful story. Hard, bitter, but beautiful, as are usually some works of art.

This passes during the Second War. Winter. Cold, snow -covered floor. From the train, an unhappy throws her own baby, hoping that at least she is lucky to stay alive. The poor wood, a seasoned woman, will take care of her as a mother. The poor lumberjack, a gross, solid man, will gradually feel tender by that creature. But it is a damn creature, of the race of the “without heart”, as they believe and proclaim all the woodcutters of that place, at that time. The place is close to Krakow, the roads lead to the Auschwitz field.

With intelligence, sensitivity and good results, Michel Hazanavicius He developed this story in cartoon. It would have been very strong to do it with actors. The young artist Ava Dobrynine He then made the best storyboard of his life, which was later faithfully followed by a team of Franco-Belgian cartoonists and colorists. All contributed: the art director Julien Grandethe brothers Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne And the creator of simple stories Robert Guédiguianassociates as co -producers, the teacher Alexandre Decatswith a music that is wrapping the viewers like snow, and was also Jean-Louis Trintignant. This was his last work. Penetrating, and without lowering line, the final phrase that, of course, we will not say, and that synthesizes the last page of the book maintaining the same intention very well, loaded with irony.

By the way, the book of Jean-Claude Grumberg carries the subtitle in its original edition “A Conte”a story, but it has a very particular appendix, where there is no story. In that appendix GROMBERG Indicates the number of rail transports where their father and grandfather, the number of people on board, and the number of survivors were taken. There is edition in Spanish.
