For decades, Thomas Gottschalk shaped show entertainment on German television. Now the 74-year-old has made a decision.
Entertainer Thomas Gottschalk announced the end of his show career on TV on TV on TV. “I will 75 the next Sunday (May 18) and that is the point for a moderator where you should say, you take yourself out of yourself,” said the 74-year-old on the RTL show “Because you don’t know what happens” with Barbara Schöneberger and Günther Jauch. The “Bild” newspaper had previously reported.
“I looked after Saturday evening and under control for 35 years,” said Gottschalk, followed by the applause of the studio audience. But he has always emphasized that when the day was reached when it is older than the Pope, it must be over – and the newly elected Pontifex Leo XIV is 69 years old. However, the TV routine agreed to perform again in a farewell program in early December.
Gottschalk is one of the most successful showmaster on German television. For years he moderated the ZDF show classic “Wetten, dass ..?”. Most recently, he was regularly seen together with Jauch (68) and Schöneberger (51) on Saturday evening at RTL.
He has also been very present on German television on various channels on German television in recent years.
