‘Shanghai’s charm, unlimited future’, the sample of about 80 photos that teaches various facets of that great Chinese metropolis, was officially inaugurated this Sunday at the Liberty Palace in the City of Buenos Aires, with an event that had the participation of hundreds of people, including diplomatic officials, journalists and visitors in general.
This trans -Andean exhibition, which had its first stop in Santiago, Chile, will be available in Argentina until May 17, in Hall 607 of the Palace. It is one of the most important cultural centers in Latin America, which works in the iconic building of the former Argentine mail, being a Buenos Aires architectural emblem.
Specifically, it is the first time that the Municipality of Shanghai makes a promotion of its urban image in the Argentine capital. This exhibition stands out because the images were selected through the IP Shanghai collaborative platform, composed of productions of recognized artists and contributions from common citizens.
“The exhibition seeks to build cultural bridges through images, strengthening mutual understanding and emotional resonance between the peoples of China and Argentina,” says the organizers. Among them, is the Information Office of the Municipal Government of Shanghai, with the support of the China Embassy and the Ministry of Culture of Argentina.
“That diversity serves as a lighthouse”
“They are beautiful photos, which show the development and cultural activity of the city. We are very excited with this encounter and start of linking, creating bridges and encounter,” said Valeria Ambrosio, director of the Libertad Palace. “Drawing cultural bridges with Shanghai is interesting for diversity, which nourishes, to serve as a lighthouse. And also to know our cultural activity, which is immense,” he added.
In addition to Ambrosio, the Opening event participated: Ma Xiaohong, president of the Shanghai International Cultural Communication Association; Ding Bo, editor in chief of the Jiefang newspaper; and Wang Xiaoxu, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Argentine Republic.
As a context, this year the 53rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Asian giant and the southern cone country is celebrated, as well as the 11th of the creation of the Comprehensive Strategic Association between them.
Complementing the photographic exhibition, the film ‘The story of her’ (2014), by director Shao Yihui, was also screened, with humor shows part of Shanghai’s idiosyncrasy and how many women live. Indeed, Chinese Cinema Week was also launched · Shanghai, and the movie theater was full.
Thus, Chinese and Argentines who approached the event lived a day full of art, amazement, laughter and cultural exchange. After all, that is what endures.
