Because of sexual assault: Gérard Depardieu was guilty

Gérard Depardieu (76) was guilty on May 13 in Paris in the process of sexual abuse by two women. The French film star was sentenced to an 18 -month suspended sentence – the court followed the public prosecutor’s request. Depardieu was not present for the verdict. He was convicted of attacks on a 54-year-old set decorator and a 34-year-old director’s assistant during the filming of the feature film “Les Volets Verts” in Paris in September 2021.

In the process, the two affected women described how Gérard Depardieu molested them on the film set and touched their will on breasts and buttocks. The director’s assistant explained that they “petrified” the attacks. She also emphasized: “I said no. I was afraid.”

Depardieu denied the allegations of sexual attacks. In court, he said the media used the allegations to destroy his reputation. “He was” vulgar, gross, indecent “, but” never touched someone “. The actor also criticized the #Metoo movement. This movement becomes “a terrorist attack,” he said according to the British “The Guardian”.

The process was initially postponed last year for health problems and finally began on March 24th in Paris. After only four days of the trial, the public prosecutor was convinced of the actor’s guilt and demanded an 18-month suspended sentence. According to “Le Monde”, she also applied for a fine of 20,000 euros, psychological support and the inclusion of depardieus in a sex offender cartoon.

The process is not the only case in which depardieu is involved. Around 20 women have raised allegations of abuse against the acting star in the past – including two for rape. However, several procedures were discontinued due to an limitation period. Actress Charlotte Arnoild (29) was the first to submit an advertisement against Depardieu in 2018. In the summer of 2024, the Parisian public prosecutor applied for a procedure for rape and sexual coercion against the actor, about which an investigator still has to decide.
