Satirist Martin Sonneborn has a birthday – no reason to celebrate for him, because he “can’t drink as much as you should”. He also hopes for a café with shot -proof slices.
Martin Sonneborn looks darker into the future: “Life is great until 55, and then physical decay is used. You can’t drink as much as you should actually have to,” said the politician and satirist in the interview of the German Press Agency. He turns 60 this Thursday. How will he celebrate? “Not at all,” said his answer. “I’m practically dead,” he added.
The former editor -in -chief of the Frankfurt magazine “Titanic” has been sitting in the European Parliament for around eleven years, now he is thinking of retirement. “We parliamentarians are financially well positioned and with 63, I think you can switch to a safe old existence.”
Sonneborn: If we are no longer so safe for democracy
Then he could finally do what he actually wanted to do in life: “Sitting around in coffee houses, watching things, reading the newspaper and adding my mustard.”
A drop of bitterness remains: EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has maneuvered Europe in a situation in which there was war with the Russians, with the Chinese and with the Americans. “If it continues to sabotage our economy, I need a café with a shear -proof panel.”
Sonneborn also complains of government measures against the work of the satire party “Die Party”. “We are no longer so safe for democracy,” said the journalist. “In the past we have rarely been arrested, and nobody stood in front of our apartment door.” In the meantime, party people would also be visited by the police at 6:00 a.m. There were two house searches because a poster of the party was hung on which “feminism, her pussies” was.
