Heidi Klum enchants Cannes: In a breathtaking robe, she ensures pure glamor for the festival start.
Heidi Klum (51) has long been one of the regular guests at the Film Festival in Cannes. At the opening of the 78th edition, the 51-year-old again made a glamorous appearance. In a spectacular robe by Elie Saab, she walked over the red carpet on the croisette. The shoulder -free dress consisted of several layers of finely cut fabrics that reminded of delicate petals and passed into an elegant train. The side of the leg fell in particular.
In an interview on the sidelines of the festival, the model speaks about the “most glamorous carpet in the world”, strong women and new ideals of beauty – and gives a little insight into the grand finale of the anniversary season of “Germany’s Next Top Model”.
Dear Heidi, can you remember your first time in Cannes?
Heidi Klum: Yes, I still remember it very well, although it was over 20 years ago. Cannes is the most glamorous carpet in the world. It’s a bit like in the film – the make -up, the big robe, the backdrop – and strong, inspiring women everywhere. I am very pleased that I can return with my L’Oréal Paris family for the second time this year-and that we can set a sign of empowerment in Cannes.
How long does it take to prepare for an appearance like here in Cannes?
Klum: I’ve been looking for the clothes a few months in advance, and we need a maximum of two hours on site to finish everything. This year my red carpet looks from Elie Saab come. I am most looking forward to with the team – we always have a very funny time together.
In addition to the opening, you also visit a gala dinner in Cannes in honor of Eva Longoria and Andie Macdowell. What do you particularly admire about these two women?
Klum: I love Eva Longoria’s charisma and humor, we have known each other for a long time and whenever we see each other, it’s very funny. Andie MacDowell is a real icon for me – I find her gray hair just beautiful. I admire her films and to this day it is one of the really big names in the acting business. Both are absolute power women for me. They stand for strength, elegance and authenticity – and they are also committed away from the camera. I love how you campaign with L’Oréal Paris for women. And that for decades! Eva is already celebrating her 20th anniversary with the fire.
Which women have shaped and supported their career?
Klum: There are some – above all my mother, who gave me confidence early and exemplified how important cohesion and mutual support are.
Many young women see a role model in them – what does this role mean personally?
Klum: This is a great responsibility – and an honor. I try to be honest and to speak openly about challenges. Inner strength means beauty. If I can pass it on, I am very happy.
In 20 years you have experienced many generations of girls and women in 20 years. Are young women more confident today than before?
Klum: Yes, definitely. I see a whole new generation that knows what it wants and that no longer fits in old beauty pictures. They celebrate themselves as they are – and that’s a good thing.
The “GNTM” final is getting closer. Can you tell us a few details?
Klum: Only so much: it becomes emotional, loud, surprising – and very special. For the 20th anniversary, of course, we thought about a few highlights. But more is not revealed!
