Constantin Schreiber leaves the “Tagesschau” to concentrate on other projects. This also includes writing books. His new thriller has just been published.
“Tagesschau” spokesman Constantin Schreiber announced his farewell to the news program. “It was a great honor for me to be able to present the Tagesschau. After eight and a half years in the ARD-Aktuell Studio, I would like to work journalistically again in the future,” he said. On May 25th, he will speak the 8pm edition for the last time.
The journalist, who came to “ARD-Aktuell” in 2017 and has been part of the main edition of the main edition since 2021, has been active as an author for many years and has celebrated success with non-fiction. His second thriller has just been released.
The Middle East expert awarded with the Grimme Prize has again chosen Egypt as a setting for “Akhenaten Curse” (Hoffmann and Campe) as in “Cleopatra’s grave”. For him it is “one of the most exciting countries in the world – if only because of its history,” he says in an interview with the Spot on News agency. “I think it’s great that I can deal with it so diverse – in addition to the crime novels, there is also a illustrated book in autumn and a children’s book will also exist.” Egypt is also “wonderful as a backdrop for crime novels – the temple complexes, the pyramids, the historical relationships,” he adds. “I am also a big Agatha Christian fan,” reveals Schreiber about his passion for crime.
Constantin Schreiber about his role in the “Tagesschau”
In the thriller – this time his commissioner Theodora has to do with a sect – it is “ultimately about the power of religion”. “In my book, a sect plays the central role. I would like to encourage the reader to think about when belief can also be misused,” said the author, who writes about his books when he is on the go. He uses “specifically the gaps that arise”. With lawyer and bestselling author Alexander Stevens, he has just written the book “Crawled”, which will appear soon.
Farewell to announcement: Judith Rakers presents the news in the “Tagesschau” one last time

“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, I welcome you to the ‘Tagesschau'” – Judith Rakers will say this sentence one last time on January 31, 2024. After 19 years, she leaves the news program as a spokeswoman at her own request. The NDR announced this in a message in the middle of the month. “Judith Rakers’ farewell to the ‘Tagesschau’ is a big loss. She is not only popular with our viewers, the entire team also appreciates her as a person and colleague,” said Marcus Bornheim, first editor-in-chief ARD-Aktuell. Rakers said it was “time to focus on other projects in my life, further expand my entrepreneurial activity and to tackle new things for which there was enough time in addition to the news shift service.”

At the “Tagesschau”, Constantin Schreiber’s task looked different: “I am a spokesman for the show, so to speak, the texts are written by editors. I read them through shortly before the show and of course can make comments, but in principle the content of the content is not with me,” he explains and also reveals how he likes the recently changed greeting at the “Tagesschau”: ” The unique selling point of the shipment was. Since the end of last year, the news program has been called “Good evening, I welcome you to the Tagesschau”.
Will Constantin Schreiber move to the south after his farewell to the news program? “I refuel energy where the sun is shining – sometimes in Egypt, but also on Fuerteventura,” explains the married father of two children.
