Joe Don Baker: “James Bond” actor died with 89

Joe Don Baker died at the age of 89. The actor has been seen in a variety of films in recent decades, including in several “James Bond” parts. from Wednesday evening, Baker died on May 7th. The cause of death was not announced.

The actor grew up in Texas and studied acting in New York. Since the 1960s he has been involved in more than 50 films and made a name for himself with roles as a “hard guy”. His filmography includes “the steady”, “Fletch – The Troubleker”, “Cape of Angst”, “Congo”, “Reality Bites”, “Mars Attacks!” and “Wallace”. In the course of his career, he played alongside stars such as Angelina Jolie, Glenn Close, Matthew McConaughey, Robert de Niro or Robert Redford.

He can also be seen in three James Bond films: In “The Hint of Death” he plays an arms dealer, in “The tomorrow never dies” and “Goldeneye”, he embodies a CIA agent.

Baker was awarded Robert Altman Award for his role in the drama “Mud” in 2014. His performance in the British television production “Edge of Darkness” also brought him nomination as the best actor through the British Academy of Television in 1986.

Baker had been married from 1969 to 1980, the marriage did not produce children. “He is grown by a small but very close circle of friends who will miss him forever,” says the obituary for the actor.
