The composer Charles Strouse became famous with hit musicals such as “Bye Bye Birdie” and “Annie”. He was also successful in Hollywood. Now he has died.
He wrote the music for the Broadway hit “Annie” and the classic film “Bonnie and Clyde”-now the American composer and songwriter Charles Strouse is dead. He died in his house in New York, said a spokesman for the “New York Times”. According to “Hollywood Reporter”, his four children also announced the death of the award -winning musician. Strouse was 96 years old.

The native New York created more than a dozen Broadway musicals, including “Bye Bye Birdie” (1960), “Applause” (1970) and “Annie” (1977), with which he won three Tony prices. The hit musical “Annie” with the songs “Tomorrow” and “It’s a Hard Knock Life” over an orphan was performed more than 2,300 times on New York Broadway.

Songs written by Strouse recorded numerous stars. His song “Once Upon A Time” from the musical “All American” (1962) was later covered by singers such as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Bob Dylan.
Strouse also wrote the film music for Hollywood classics like “Bonnie and Clyde”, “The Night when Minsky flew up” and “Annie-Christmas of an orphan”.
