TV star Anita Kupsch suffers from severe dementia. Her husband Klaus-Detlef Krahn devotes her home.
This message touches many fans: The once so lively and active actress Anita Kupsch is seriously ill. The 84-year-old, who celebrates her 85th birthday on May 18, is no longer able to cope with her everyday life alone, hardly remembers past roles and is increasingly losing the ability to really talk to her husband Klaus-Detlef Krahn (79).
Dediting care by husband
Your partner lovingly maintains you at home in Berlin. Krahn describes the couple’s everyday life. “We retired into the house like the snail and make ourselves very comfortable there,” said Krahn. “I bought a large television on which she likes to look at the series ‘red roses’ and ‘storm of love’. Then I stand next to it and iron.”
The 79-year-old also takes over further homework such as cleaning or cooking, “as long as I can physically”. A question of the decency for Krahn. “For me, it is very clear: in good times as in bad times. We are now almost 45 years together. You have to bring that for your partner, otherwise you are a stupid man. And I am sure that Anita would have done it for me too.”
A silent 85th birthday
Anita Kupsch was most recently seen on Berlin theater stages in pieces such as “Golden Girls” (2013) or “Harold and Maude” (2016). On television she delighted in the “crime scene”, “again and again on Sunday” or “a home for animals”. Her best-known role was probably that of the medical assistant Gabi Köhler in the ARD evening series “Practice Bülowbogen” alongside Günter Pfitzmann (1924-2003).
A few years ago, Kupsch pulled back from the stage and then from the public. Her 85th birthday on May 18, due to her dementia, will also become a quieter. “We don’t celebrate. This has been canceled. Unfortunately, it is not possible,” explains her husband.
