Journalist: In what sense is the work a fresco about contemporary Argentina?

Santiago Governori: The work is about a class that he never loses, that he always searches them to stand. That enjoys financial impunity and judicial assistance. Much of that money that positions them in the elites is, or inherited, or is to the detriment of the weakest. Even so, they create a superior caste. This happens from the Spanish conquest. Therefore, every time you talk about this, unfortunately it will be a contemporary fresco.

Q.: Inequality, racism, hypocrisy appear, why do these issues summon you and how are they reflected in the work?

SG: I had the possibility of knowing this caste. For different moments of life I interfere in his world. I met his thinking, his way of speaking. The treatment they have with their employees. Of course I am generalizing but I observe a class that is split from the rest of society and that does them, although in many cases you are unconscious, racist and hypocrites.

Q.: How did the children of those who send and have the power? How are these children?

SG: I wanted to investigate how the coming class is. Those who have more or less my age. What is clear is that their problems are not even close to resembling those of the rest of society.

Q.: Why do prejudices and impunity resonate? How are these country friends, as you describe these creatures?

SG: There are characters from the play that are more brutal, they enjoy being what they are and have some contempt for what is not of their world. Others are more sensible but do not act in pursuit of what they think, and others are very naive and live in the clouds. Those who pass through a villa and do not realize.

Q.: It was said that there is battle between dominant and subjected, something of the caste of the rich and the others, what can you say?

SG: Yes! clearly. More than a battle became a constant defeat of the weakest. Today is even more noticeable, not only in Argentina. The rich are runaway. His greed is insatiable and the collateral damage of his avidity falls to society.

Q.: How does Sarmiento’s metaphor, indigenous people, barbarians, enlightened and private neighborhoods appear?

SG: Many of the areas where the Countries of the Buenos Aires Conurbano were built were lands inhabited by the Querandíes. Being present this spectral character for the Spaniards during his first invasions, it was impossible not to focus on the dichotomies that always accompanied the country. Civilization or barbarism, the opinions found on the figures of Sarmiento, Roca, Rosas, Quiroga, etc., etc. All this question makes the culture of Argentina.

Q.: Why did you want to talk about all these issues and portray these worlds? They metamorphose but remain similar 200 years ago …

SG: Just because of that. Because when you read the story you feel that this was always. Because of the impotence that things do not change the solution being so easy. Also for wanting to inspire me in things that happen to me, that mobilize or indigen me. Make my thoughts. Even if I find not clear answers, at least, ask me the questions.
