Dua Lipa: Ten things that you didn’t know about the pop star yet

Dua Lipa with her younger siblings: Sister Rina (M., now 22) and brother Gjin (right, 17) they accompanied the Brit Awards in 2018. The support of her family is very important to her. Her parents come from Kosovo and went to London at the beginning of the Balkan War, where Dua Lipa was born in 1995.

Dua Lipa calls Nelly Furtado one of her greatest musical role models. The album “Whoa Nelly” From 2000 is the first CD that she bought from her own money.

During their primary school, their parents wanted Dua to learn piano or guitar. But she has her own head and chose cello – the most rebellious instrument in her eyes.

She inherited the talent from her father Dukagijn Lipa, who in Kosovo as a singer of the rock band “Oda” is known – and came on stage here in 2016 at her first concert in Pristina. For love for his homeland, father and daughter organized that there later “Sunny Hill”-Festival, in which both also performed.

In February 2021 she adorned the cover of the “Vogue”. Dua Lipa likes to experiment with fashion and regularly reinvent itself – whether with the hairstyle or your tattoos. She carries 18 symbols on the skin, all rather small and petite.

With her former friend Anwar Hadid, brother of the model sisters Gigi and Bella, she got the puppy dexter out of the shelter in 2020 and gave him a home. For every birthday of the dog, a celebration with a party hat and treat cake.

Her father is Kosovo-Albaner, her mother has Bosnian-Albanian roots. Albania’s President Bajram Begaj therefore offered Dua Lipa the Albanian citizenship, which she accepted in the capital Tirana in November 2022 – and proudly showed.

Even if Dua Lipa makes a lot of yoga and value a balanced lifestyle – from time to time she can not keep your fingers from chips and red wine, she says. It’s also a good combination!
