Is Celine Dion coming back to the ESC 37 years after her victory for Switzerland? It didn’t sound like it in the rehearsal. But the fans continue to hope.
Celine Dion was not there during the rehearsal on the day before the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) – and feeds fears that it will not come to the final in Basel. For the first time, the moderators said that the singer could unfortunately not be there on Saturday evening. There was no official statement of management. The fans continue to hope for a surprise appearance. As in the semifinals, a video message was recorded in which Dion said she would rather do nothing but to be there.
This video message has already been shown in the semifinals, but the moderators only sent greetings to Dion without saying whether it is coming or not. The Canadian (57) had won the ESC for Switzerland in 1988 and always promised participation in Basel. However, it is seriously ill. Dion suffers from Stiff-Person-Syndrome with severe muscle cramps. Whether she can travel or occur depends on her form of daily form.
At the opening of the Olympic Games in Paris last summer, it worked: it was unsure until the last minute, but then Dion appeared again for the first time at the opening ceremony. The ARD broadcasts the show, which is likely to pursue more than 100 million people on TV, from 9:00 p.m. in the first.
