The world’s biggest music show runs in Basel. A colorful stage show celebrates the harmony, on the street Rumort it.
In Basel, the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) started with a stage spectacle. The largest music competition in the world is also accompanied by criticism of Israel’s participation in this year. In the city, hundreds of people gathered into anti-Israel demonstrations.
Because of the Gaza War, there had always been protests against the participation of Israel in the competition in the past few days. The war against the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas in the Gaza Strip with tens of thousands of fatalities was triggered by a Hamas terrorist wave in October 2023.
It was speculated until the end whether music superstar Céline Dion in Basel would be on stage. Sometimes there had been signals in one, sometimes in the other direction. Dion suffers from Stiff-Person-Syndrome with severe muscle cramps. Whether she can travel or occur depends on her form of daily form. In 1988 she won the ESC for Switzerland.
26 music contributions compete against each other. With bookmakers he is particularly far ahead with the Swedish contribution Kaj with the song “Bara Bada Bastu”. Germany is represented on the start number 16 with Abor & Tynna and the song “Baller”. As a commentator for German television, Thorsten Schorn will again lead through the final evening.
Spectators can (with) coordinate by call, SMS and an app. The winner will only be determined around 1 a.m. on Sunday morning.
