The Who kicked out Zak Starkey – for the second time within a few weeks. The drummer is disappointed.
Zak Starkey (59), drummer from The WHO, was apparently released from the band. It is his second expulsion within just a few weeks. He was fired in mid -April and then quickly stopped. Now it should be finally over. the group of the group, Pete Townshend (80), announced that Starkey is no longer part of the band. Scott Devours (58) should replace him. The Who is preparing for your farewell tour in North America.
“After many years of great work by ZAK on drums, the time for a change came,” says Townshends Post. “A moving time. Zak has many new projects in the hindquarters and I wish him the best.” Starkey, who had been the drummer of The WHO since 1996, later claimed that his exit had not been decided together.
“I was fired and asked two weeks after my re -hiring to give an explanation in which I say that I have quit to devote myself to other musical activities,” said Starkey shortly after Townshend’s explanation. That is not true. “I love The Who and would never have gone.” He added that there was “chaos” for weeks before he was throwing out. He has other projects going, but that is often the case, and none of it has ever overlapped The WHO or caused problems.
First throw out in April
In April Zak Starkey was released due to an alleged disagreement during a performance in the Royal Albert Hall. The band members are said to have criticized the drums at the gig Starkeys performance. He was stopped again three days later. Townshend said that there were some communication problems on all sides, “which had to be clarified, and fortunately these were clarified”.
Zak Starkey is the son of Beatles drummer Ringo Starr (84) and has established itself as a fixture at The WHO over the decades. Since 1996 he has been sitting on the band’s drums, which has existed since 1964.
