Lee Sansum protected Diana, William and Harry until shortly before the death of Lady Di. Diana’s former bodyguard has now died.
The former bodyguard of Princess Diana (1961-1997) died, as his family announced. Lee Sansum turned 60. The former officer of the military police protected Lady Di until shortly before her accidental death in August 1997.
The wife of the bodyguard, Kate Sansum, shares souvenir photos and the sad news that he suffered a fatal heart attack on Saturday morning. In her contribution, she remembers getting to know her: “Since we got to know each other in 1998, Lee Sansum has been my soul mate, my hero and the most amazing man in my world. Therefore I have been destroyed that he is no longer among us.”
“His enormous presence will be missed all over the world as in our household, but his ability to love and the life skills he shared with us have left a legacy that will never be lost,” she continues. Prince William (42) and Prince Harry (40) could also meet their touching words because he was part of their lives in the nineties.
Lady di: “That would not have been possible without her invaluable contribution”
During a family vacation in Saint-Tropez, France, Lee Sansum woke up about Diana and her sons about a month before the deadly car accident. Later she thanked him in a hand -signed letter that he had taken care of her “so good” during her vacation. “We had every ten magical days. That would not have been possible without their invaluable contribution and we would like to thank our warmest thanks” from the present letter.
Other stars that Sansum had protected included Tom Cruise (62), Sylvester Stallone (78) or Nicole Kidman (57). But the most formative time was probably the one alongside the princess. Sansum published the book “Protecting Diana: A bodyguard’s story”.
